“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mauni Lani Fairways unit 901! We were visiting the South Kohala Coast for the first time to attend a wedding at the Fairmont Orchid hotel, and wanted a place nearby. This unit was walking distance to the hotel (although there are no sidewalks so we still drove when the senior citizen or kiddo in our group needed to be at the hotel). The unit was exceptionally clean and nicely appointed. We were quite comfortable and really felt like we were staying in a welcoming space. We also appreciated the privacy afforded by two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, so my mother-in-law could have her own space whenever needed. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. which was also very important so we had the flexibility to prepare our own meals - good for varied diets and picky eaters. The lanai was perfect for meals. The Foodland market down the street was a great bonus. But we also liked having a couple restaurants and shops nearby. We had only one meal at the beach club, which was fantastic. The resort is built along a golf course, so the units are quite spread out - it’s a bit of a drive to the private beach, but worth it. The pool was close and a good option when we wanted to let our kiddo have a bit more swim time." ~April W. (December 2018)
We had a wonderful, short stay at this gorgeous unit. Had everything we needed and plenty of room. It IS quite a ways to the beach club, although I walked back from there one day - good exercise and a nice walk. Could not have been easier to check in, etc., even though we arrived "after hours". Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Close to the shops at Mauna Lani, but beware that the grocery there is small and expensive, as is the norm in Hawaii, it seems. If you'll be making a trip into Kona anyway, stock up at Target or whatever while in town. Thanks so much for letting us use your condo - wish we were there right now!!

Perfect for one couple!
The condo is a corner unit in the Fairways group of condominiums. It is in a quiet area with a view of the golf course and distant palm trees silhouetted against the sky. The outdoor patio had a gas grill, like other units it also had a dining table and two lounge chairs, and we ate outside quite a bit. There is a good kitchen with all appliances and utensils one might need. The master bathroom is large. In the garage were two portablebeach chairs. We had a very good stay here. The unit is the right size for a single couple, although there is a second downstairs bedroom and small bath. We could sacrifice the view for this unit's lower rental fee compared with the larger condos in the area. South Kohala Management were responsive and friendly. We stayed last year in an adjacent unit and liked the area and this unit enough that we have rented it again for the next year. This is a beautiful area of the Big Island. The condo comes with free access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club, a lovely area to sit, swim, snorkel and whale-watch. There is a well-stocked grocery store and restaurants a half mile away, and wonderful beaches and restaurants within a half-hour drive. We especially liked Merriman's and the Red Water Cafe in Waimea, The Blue Dragon and the Plantation Grill in Kawaihae Harbor, and Monstera at the Shops at Mauna Lani for sushi and noodles.
