★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very cool location for people who like to walk and see stuff. The fish ponds are beautiful with meandering paths around them. Saw a lot of cool fish and eels there. The walk along outer edge to the Mauna Lani Beach Club (best swimming in walkable area) is fun. The Mauna lani hotel beach is more shallow but lovely during sunset. Nice lava field walk, look on Google Maps for “lava tube shelter cave”. Walk to 49 black sands beach is doable but hot and long, parking controlled/ limited and they won’t let you drive down just to pick someone up unless a parking space is available. 17 min walk from beach to access control gate. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our family with 2 kids (2 and 5 years old) really enjoyed our stay. One of our concerns was the proximity to other condos bc our kids can be loud, but it all felt very private. The condos are built well and you’d never know another unit was next to or below you. The view was breathtaking, especially at sunset. We also loved sitting outside looking at the stars after the kids were down. We had other relatives staying at the Mauna Lani hotel next door. We met them every day to eat breakfast, play in the pool, and go in the ocean on the hotel property. It was easy and close. We would have stayed there too, but the convenience of having a kitchen (and a Foodland nearby), along with a separate room for the boys, made this the best choice. If you have little ones our age, I’d suggest moving the kids mattresses to the ground so they aren’t so high up. Otherwise it was perfect for them. They loved running around on the lawn outside. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this renovated condo. The owners did a wonderful job choosing appliances and furniture. The location was convenient to the pool and about a five minute walk to the ocean.
