02/07/2026 - 9:00am
Every winter, Waimea (Kamuela) turns pink for a one-day celebration of cherry blossoms and Japanese-Hawaiian culture. The Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival honors the historic cherry trees at Church Row Park with music and dance, food and craft vendors, and hands-on cultural demos—think mochi pounding, tea ceremony, bonsai, taiko, hula, and more. The festival is produced by Hawaiʻi County Parks & Recreation with community partners and typically runs 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of February.
Event Details - When & Where
Events are spread across central Waimea on the Big Island—Church Row Park, Parker Ranch Center, Pukalani Stables, and Parker Ranch Historic Homes—all marked by pink festival banners. The day celebrates the tradition of hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) as the town’s trees bloom in early February. Admission is free.
Getting Around
A free Roberts Hawaiʻi shuttle loops between major venues throughout the festival day. If you’re driving, look for parking at Parker Ranch Center, the soccer field across from Church Row Park, along Pukalani Street, and at Kamuela Hardwoods/Parker Ranch Historic Homes (check event signage on the day). Walking between venues is easy and encouraged.
